Important Message

We will not call you during your appointment unless we have additional questions or need additional paperwork, so you DO NOT need to come to the office during your appointment. ONCE WE HAVE COMPLETED YOUR ASSISTANCE, AN AWARD LETTER WILL BE MAILED TO YOU AND A GUARANTEE TO PAY WILL BE PLACED ON YOUR ACCOUNT AND HELD FOR 30 DAYS, but If you have any questions, you may call us Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

Scheduler Notes

You must have an appointment to receive assistance. Your information will not be processed if you do not have an appointment.  After scheduling your appointment, please upload your documentation through our online app:     https://littliteal.azurewebsites.net.   Clients 65 and over may download an Energy Assistance Application from online at www.achr.com. 

For paper applications, please complete all highlighted areas. Failure to do so will cause a delay or denied assistance. After completing your paper application, place the completed application and copies of your documentation in a sealed envelope and write your name and appointment date/time on the outside of the envelope. All of your information must be received or placed in the drop box a day(s) before your appointment.

Once we have assisted your household, we will place a guarantee to pay on your account.  The pledge will be held on your account for 30 days. Your bill will still reflect that you owe this amount until the vendor receives our check, but you will not owe the amount we guarantee for you.

Documentation Needed:

Below is a list of documents that you will need to submit.  A delay in uploading your documentation will cause a delay in your assistance.

  • Lee County Residents Only
  • Picture ID
  • SS cards for everyone in your household (write date of birth on paperwork)
  • Proof of income or no income (for all that apply): Check Stub for Previous Month, Current Unemployment Statement, Current SS/SSI/Retirement Statement, Current SNAP Printout from the State
  • Current Housing Letter (if apply): Section 8/Public Housing/HUD Housing
  • Current Utility Bill (Entire Bill)
  • Current Pharmacy Printout for anyone in the household

Information

The goal of ACHR is to serve those persons with low incomes and the promotion and implementation of programs that improve economic conditions, education and racial relationships for all people, resulting in increased self-sufficiency and overall improvement in their quality of life.

ACHR Locations

The ACHR offers services at the Darden Center complex in Opelika; Frankie B. King Center in Auburn; and more limited services at the Marian Wright Edelman Center in Hurtsboro. ACHR also provides some services at its central offices in Auburn.

Additional Notes

Within minutes of making your appointment, you should receive a confirmation email with a calendar appointment attached to the email. In addition, you will also receive a phone reminder the day before your appointment.
